I've redecorated.

I've changed from MT to WP, and now have my all of my old journal posts and all of my weblog (and new journal) posts all in the same place.

You can get to it at The Onion There are Categories of Journal and Weblog if you like to navigate them separately.
The RSS feed is also changed, so if that's how you read, please update your feed reader to get http://www.the-onion.net/?feed=rss2 and you can even get a comments RSS now too, if you like http://www.the-onion.net/?feed=comments-rss2.

I haven't installed the thing that cross posts to LiveJournal, but I'm sure there is one, so I'll install that as soon as I find it.

Come to the new place and tell me what you think! This is the first time ever that I haven't made my own theme! Not sure how long I'll keep someone elses, but I do like it.

The Date

I have one. A date.

The SSAT finally got my file yesterday, and rang me with a date for my hearing. It's going to be at 10am on 5th August. That's my nephews 30th birthday. Not that that matters. Hopefully I can do it by phone, but I'm wondering if it would be better if I went in person.

That's also the date my next pension payment is due, so this is obviously not going to be resolved by then, which means that my next payment will be dropping to $101 because Neil got a pay rise, and they still consider him to be my partner.

Do you hear the people sing?

I do. And I sing with them. Often.

I'm not sure how many years ago I saw Les Miserables. I know it was a few. I found it in my archives. It was in 2005.

I had never seen it before, and really didn't know much about it, nor did I really know any of the music. I certainly do now. It was brilliant. I was totally enthralled. I'd love to see it again. I have the music from the 10th Anniversary concert, and last week I got the movie with Liam Neeson. A bit different, but I still enjoyed it. I also have an ebook now. Haven't read it yet though, because I have so many books to read at the moment that I know there will be some going back to the library unread.

I found a new tea shop...

Tielka, and they have tea parties!

As well as some lovely looking tea, and tea ware.
It's Verity's fault. She blogged about her favourite tea and that sent me tea window shopping!

I feel good. I feel healthy.
I do have a sore bit on my chest, where they removed my portacath on Monday, but with that gone, I feel like a healthy person again. Not a person who has to have a device in them so they can be infused with awful drugs.

I'm glad I had it, mind you. I'm sure it made going through chemo a lot better than it would have been without it, but I am really thankful that it's done it's job, and now it's gone.

I got a phone call on the Friday before my surgery, confirming that I'd be there on Monday, at 6.30. I was a little taken aback. The letter said 7.00, so I queried that, and the nurse said yes, 6.30. You must be first on the list. Wow. What a change that would be from last time!

Well, Jade and I got up before the crack of dawn on Monday, to arrive at the hospital right on time at 6.30. We had no trouble finding a car park, and no trouble with traffic. If you have to go to the Mater it sure is a good time to be going.
I was indeed first!

St Augustines Church Hall

Reading Tea for Joy this morning, I was overjoyed to see her post Selvedge Summer Fair.
I noticed that it was at the St Augustines Church Hall. That's where the BrisStyle markets usually are.

Then I stopped.

Chicken Soup

I started writing this in the chat threads on the DUST forum and thought it seemed like the start of a good journal entry, so here it is.
Chicken soup by placbo.

Thanks everyone for you well wishes. I'm still feeling pretty snotty ;) but I am feeling quite a bit better.

I'm meeting my mother in law at the surgeons office this afternoon for her follow up appointment, where he'll tell her the pathology of her tumour. This is what governs the rest of her treatment regimen, so I hope she's getting good news! She so doesn't want to have to do what I did.

Sports day was rained out. Jade was not impressed since she spent the previous day making them each a green T-Shirt. There were no kid sized green t-shirts to be had in Capalaba, so she bought the only two she could find - two mens 2X sized ones, and altered them to fit. She did a fantastic job. I wish she had more time for her arts and crafts, she could do so much! But with three little ones (and a big one) she doesn't get much time left for herself.

The Law according to Edward Lear

I just got off the phone with the Centrelink social worker.

She spoke to the review officer who reviewed my application for separation under the same roof and said no. The one who told me that if I see their financial advisor he'd change his mind. He told her that I'd have to see a financial advisor, and a solicitor, and prove that I was supporting myself financially. Which of course I'm not, not until they will pay me a single pension!

It's ridiculous. They know this. They know that unless I get paid a pension - a whole pension - I can't support myself, but they insist on this being the criteria for separation. So now we're going to appeal. An Authorised Review Officer - ARO will be sent the file, and then after reviewing it, will contact me for me to go through it all again.

There is a question on the form asking for two independent referees they can ring to validate my claim that we're separated. I gave them names. The review officer didn't ring either of them, because in his opinion he didn't need to. From what I wrote on the form he didn't think that I'm separated, because I'm not supporting myself financially! I flaming know this!! How the hell can I on $170 a fortnight!
